Internet issues :(

After spending nearly 2 hours trying to upload a single picture last night (and then trying again this morning) I have come to the sad realization that I will not be able to update my blog from Haiti. I will continue to write, and to choose the pictures, but uploading is just not going to happen with the internet we have here. I could probably get the text uploaded alright, but without pictures, it won't be the same. The pictures from the dinner party post were uploaded already before I left Canada, which is why they are up (although I couldn't even re-size them after the fact).

I will continue to document, and assemble the pieces here every night, but I will have to wait until I am back to upload. I will e-mail everyone again when then blog is up!

Thanks again for all your support :)

The Dinner Party

Friday, May 13th, 2011 – 7:30 a.m.
Once again, I wanted to extend another heartfelt thank you to all the people who helped me realize this trip; everyone who came out to support me at my fundraiser-dinner party last Saturday, those who were unable to attend, but still eager to help out, my wonderful ‘family’ at NOtaBLE – the Restaurant, and of course, my lovely parents. I've attached some pictures, but they are all scattered all over the page, because our bandwidth is pretty limited, and fiddling with things too much will take forever!
My parents kindly dropped me off at the airport on Thursday evening for my flight to Toronto. I had an admittedly cold, uncomfortable, sleepless night on a bench in Terminal 3 of Pearson Airport, but feel that given the things I am about to see on this trip, I really have no right to complain about a crappy sleep. At one point, I even inquired about room rates at the Sheraton, but that was out of the question ($269 for 6 hours of sleep... nah). I’m now warming up with free WI-FI (yes!), and a large cup of tea (now that something is open in the airport), and await the arrival of my STIMMA team members. I have to wait to check in, since they will be bringing with them my share of the checked luggage (a 50-pound hockey back with 12kg of peanut butter, and 200 hats).
